Raised in a spiritually oriented family environment, Frederick H.
Skip Atwater's childhood was filled with extraordinary psychic experiences. As a young adult he was guided from within to a career as a counterspy during the cold-war era where he used his naturally acquired psychic aptitude as a U.S. Army Counterintelligence Special Agent. He played a key role in the remote viewing intelligence program now known to world by the code name STAR GATE.
For ten years Skip was the Operations and Training Officer for the once highly classified U.S. Army Intelligence remote-viewing surveillance program. Working closely with the scientific efforts of SRI International, he was able to recruit and train an elite cadre of professional intelligence officers to do remote viewing for the Department of Defense and various members of the national intelligence community.
In his role as a counterintelligence officer, Skip used the Army's highly trained and skilled remote viewers to assess the security threat posed by alleged hostile government's exploitation of remote-viewing surveillance. The Defense Intelligence Agency eventually tasked Skip to respond to US national defense intelligence collection requirements as follow-on to his initial counterintelligence mission. He planned, conducted, and reported thousands of remote viewing intelligence-collection missions for a variety of US intelligence agencies.
After retiring from the Army, Skip accepted the position of Research Director in the Bob Monroe Research Lab at The Monroe Institute, a 501c(3) nonprofit research and educational organization. While working in the Bob Monroe Research Lab, he explored the realms of his own consciousness and adopted a spiritual perspective of everyday life. As Research Director Skip published technical research on methods for expanding consciousness, and under the pen name F. Holmes Atwater, authored the inspirational book, Captain of My Ship, Master of My Soul, and has assisted thousands of individuals in experiencing and exploring expanded states of consciousness in PREP sessions he conducted and in the Institute's programs he taught. In December 2006, he became the President of the Institute while also serving temporarily as the Executive Director and member of the Board of Directors. Skip has been part of the growth of the Institute since 1977, when he first moved to the east coast.
Skip has also been a husband, a father, a grandfather, a college instructor, scientific investigator, President of the International Remote Viewing Association and human behavioral engineer specializing in the design and application of techniques for cultivating propitious states of consciousness for over four decades. Now retired, Skip says that his true education, his knowledge, refreshes anew every day as he contemplates the evolution of consciousness and the self-realization of humankind as hyper-sentient beings.
